TITLE: Cable Field Service Technician
REQUIREMENTS: 24 months experience as a cable field service technician, cable technician, cable splicer and installer, or in a cable splicing and installation position or occupation.
SPECIAL REQUIREMENTS: Will accept any suitable combination of education, training or experience.
JOB DUTIES: Installation of structured cabling and fiber optics. Voice/Data/CATV Cable installation, fiber splicing, fusion splicing with experience in category 5, 6, coaxial structured cabling systems and fiber optic cabling. Aerial structured cabling installation. Knowledge of transmission, broadcasting, switching, control, and operation of telecommunications systems. Knowledge of specifications and drawings. Read blueprints and wiring diagrams. Ensure code-compliant installations. Lay underground cable directly in trenches and/or string it through conduits running through trenches. Pull cable through ducts by hand or with winches. Dig trenches for underground wires or cables. Use a variety of construction equipment to complete installations, such as digger derricks, trenchers, or cable plows. String cables between structures and lines from poles, towers, or trenches, and pull lines to proper tension. Complete coaxial and fiber optic cable splicing installation including node segmentation. Install power supplies for coaxial networks. Test, troubleshoot, and document test results for cabling.
SCHEDULE: 40 hours per week.
SALARY: $63,000.00 per year.
